Description

Throughout this CBT Awareness course you will learn the goal of CBT and how this approach is currently applied in healthcare settings.

You will have the chance to develop an understanding of different contexts in which CBT has been proven effective (such as in clinical contexts or in the workplace).

You will also gain an understanding of negative behaviours and of how they contribute to the maintenance of mental health challenges.

As well as identifying negative thinking traps and how to challenge them in order to help clients create positive coping strategies.

CBT works primarily with the beliefs of individuals and aims to change the maladaptive ones. For this reason, this therapeutic approach is targeted at individuals who have a good awareness of their thinking patterns.

You will learn that a typical course of CBT ranges between six and twelve sessions. Because it is a relatively short therapeutic intervention, CBT has been proven highly efficient for anxiety disorders, depression, phobias, insomnia, eating disorders, and other mental health challenges.

In this course you will consider that in CBT, a cognitive distortion refers to interpreting the reality in unrealistic ways, which results in the client adopting a faulty perception upon the world.

This concept is particularly relevant for individuals with depression who maintain their disorder by feeding into the cycle of negative thinking.

At the end of this CBT Awareness course you will look at mindfulness and that this technique is increasingly used in CBT approaches to help clients uncover their dysfunctional assumptions, but also to create new perspectives and assumptions that allows them to thrive.

In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.

You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
