Overview

In all events, no matter how big or small, catering food is very important. Therefore, there should be a formulated plan and implemented management strategies for the entire catering operation, and the timelines for food production and staffing must be met. Careful planning ensures that the food and other services will be delivered properly to the client’s satisfaction, and it minimises unexpected surprises.

A strong organizational skill is required of a catering manager to be able to identify, delegate, and execute operational tasks to meet and even exceed client expectations.

Interaction and communication is also extremely important. A simple instruction may be interpreted by each staff differently, based on their own understanding, abilities, even their experiences. Specific instructions must therefore be given to each staff, with a level of understanding about their background, to ensure proper implementation of management plans.

Description

At the end of this course, students shall learn how to: (1) understand the catering industry; (2) enhance skills; (3) be familiar with services and equipments; (4) understand the menu; (5) be familiar with drinks; (6) gain knowledge about table services; and (7) be familiar with events.

To achieve these goals, this course shall make use of interactive materials to present the concepts of the topics to be discussed. Assessments shall be done after the entire course to check for knowledge retention and understanding.

Certificate

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be awarded an IOLEN Certificate of Achievement from IOLEN Accreditation. This should help validate their learning experience and skill, and can be used as a resume builder.

Course Format

This course is divided into several modules and is delivered online through our interactive learning management system. Students are given access to the learning portal where they can access the course 24/7. This gives them complete control over the pace of their learning while also enabling them to study from home, in their offices or from a laptop while traveling.

Course Duration:

Normative or minimum period of study to complete this is 50 hours. Take note that this is only an estimate. The duration of completing the course still depends on the learner’s pace and ability to absorb information. Additionally, as the course is delivered online, learners have the options to divide and study the course in multiple session or go through it one go.
