About this Course
The CACHE Level 2 Award in Babysitting allows students to learn the basics of childcare including fire safety, accident prevention and providing a nurturing environment to children of various ages. The course is specifically designed to help students learn how to care for children in home settings.
To gain the CACHE Level 2 Award in Babysitting course you will need to pass all 3 assignments. There are no formal examinations on this course and the certification fee is included in the course fees. Full tutor support is also provided and your online tutor will guide you through lessons and online materials as well as answer any queries you may have on course content.

Assessments
To pass this course learners must pass several assignments. These are completed after navigating through the corresponding lessons and writing your answers to assignment questions. Once these have been read and marked by your personal tutor, feedback and marks are provided to students which contain helpful tips to improve work in future assignments.

Included in this NCFE CACHE Level 2 Award in Babysitting course are the following units:
Unit 1 – Accident prevention and fire safety when babysitting
This unit provides learners with the knowledge required to understand the risks posed in the home environment, how to assess and manage these risks and also looks at accident prevention and fire safety.
- Understand risk assessment and its role in supporting the babysitter.
- Know how to assess risks in a babysitting environment.
- Understand the role of control measures in fire safety and accident preventions.
Unit 2 – Caring for young children in a babysitting environment
This unit will enable learners to gain an understanding of the responsibilities of babysitting and gather information about age-appropriate toys, activities and calming routines when preparing children for sleep time.
- Understand responsibilities in relation to babysitting.
- Know age-appropriate toys and activities for young children from birth to 5 years 11 months.
- Know how to prepare a young child for sleep.
Unit 3 – Respecting and valuing children
This unit will enable learners to gain an understanding of respecting and valuing children and will provide some knowledge of the organisations that support children’s rights. It will also highlight ways in which adults can communicate effectively with children so that they feel valued and respected.
