Instructor Bio

After growing up deaf, Lisa wanted to help others manage deafness, at the same time, raise awareness and help Australians create inclusive communities. This is how Honeybee Creations was born. Lisa is bilingual in Auslan and Spoken English, therefore is able to appeal to deaf, hard-of-hearing and hearing audiences of all ages.

Lisa is a former International Theatre Director and Actor. After working as a deaf actor with the Australian Theatre of the Deaf Company Lisa progressed to become an established international theatre director / workshop leader for deaf and hearing youth between 2000 -– 2006.

During this time, Lisa worked for Arts Council England as a Deaf Arts Consultant, which involved increasing awareness of Deaf issues and promoting the work of Deaf Artists to regularly funded mainstream arts venues. She also delivered two highly successful Arts and Culture for Development projects for the British Council in East Africa in 2001 and again in South India in 2004.

In 2007, Lisa became a published author of the visually stunning hardcover coffee table book entitled ‘Look at Me: Deaf Awareness’. Two years later, Lisa completed a postgraduate diploma in education degree at the University of the Sunshine Coast – thus cementing her rich experience in Education. Lisa’s recent credits include winning Sensis’ ‘Inspiring Others to Achieve’ award and cover star of the White & Yellow Pages 2014/15 Sunshine Coast Edition.

Lisa is looking forward to seeing Honeybee Creations become successful across Australia and in doing so, begin to create an inclusive and positive environment nationwide for those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
