Paul started out as an Analyst Programmer at IBM in the 1980s, having studied Maths and Computer Science at Cambridge. Over the next 20 years, he provided consultancy and training in systems analysis & solution development, as well as business analysis and change across sectors such as clinical trials, mobile telecoms, securities custody, airlines, and retail banking. Paul then co-founded, co-managed, and developed the financial systems for a humanitarian aid agency specialising in malaria relief in complex emergencies. He now divides his time between training and coaching apprentices in business analysis.

About your Business Analysis training programme
To gain the BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis, you will need to pass four modules and sit the oral examination.
BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis Syllabus
The BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis is achieved by passing the exams for the following four modules before passing the oral exam, which is conducted online.
Knowledge-based Specialist Module:
- BCS Foundation Certificate in Organisational Behaviour - gain an understanding of the factors which shape how organisations operate, including organisational design, operating models, group and individual motivation, behaviour and culture, as well as business and project finance.
Two Core Practitioner Modules:
- BCS Practitioner Certificate in Business Analysis Practice - learn how to set a change initiative in a strategic context, analyse stakeholder perspectives, analyse and model business activities, identify potential solutions, and make the business case.
- BCS Practitioner Certificate in Requirements Engineering - using the Requirements Engineering Framework, learn how to elicit, analyse, model, validate, document and manage business requirements for developing and designing business solutions.
Practitioner Specialist Module:
- BCS Practitioner Certificate in Modelling Business Processes - using standard notation sets and techniques, learn how to model at the three levels of the business process hierarchy in order to document, analyse and improve business processes.
Oral Examination:
- Our one-day BCS Oral Examination Preparation Workshop will prepare you for your BCS oral exam, which, in respect of the three Practitioner Modules, will test your knowledge of the topics, and your ability to apply the business analysis techniques to given situations or contexts.

International Diploma in Business Analysis Exam Details
- There are written examinations for each of the four modules, which can be booked directly via Pearson VUE.
- Once all four exams have been passed, the oral examination can be booked with BCS directly.
- The oral exam can take up to 50 minutes and will consist of two examiners who will provide a range of questions. Questions will be based on topics defined in the oral examination syllabus and from your chosen specialist modules. The questions will require you to apply your business analysis knowledge and understanding to scenarios described by the oral examiners.
- Fees are paid directly to Pearson VUE for the written exams and BCS directly. Please note that with the exception of the Oral exam, all other exam fees are included with this training.
