This Banksman Fundamentals Level 3 course consists of five structured lectures, followed by an assessment, each designed to develop advanced knowledge of banksman principles, safety responsibilities, and compliance awareness.
Lecture 1 focuses on advanced banksman responsibilities, covering the scope of the banksman role, regulatory and guideline awareness within the UK context, risk assessment principles, advanced signalling and communication methods, and analysis of real-world case studies. Learners explore how responsibilities increase with site complexity and risk.
Lecture 2 examines vehicle and equipment movements, introducing different types of vehicles and plant commonly encountered in industrial settings. Learners explore advanced concepts related to safe positioning, manoeuvring oversized loads, operating in confined spaces, and simulation-based awareness exercises, presented from a theoretical perspective.
Lecture 3 focuses on risk assessment and mitigation, covering hazard identification, advanced risk assessment methodologies, implementation of control measures, and emergency response and incident management awareness. Case studies are used to support analytical understanding of risk scenarios.
Lecture 4 develops effective communication awareness, focusing on advanced communication skills for banksmen, understanding operator perspectives, managing challenging situations, non-verbal communication, and communication role-play concepts. Emphasis is placed on clarity, consistency, and safety-focused interaction.
Lecture 5 addresses health and safety compliance, covering detailed legislative awareness, legal responsibilities, documentation and reporting requirements, auditing concepts, and compliance monitoring. Learners gain understanding of how compliance supports accountability and continuous safety improvement.
Assessment includes a final exam to evaluate understanding of banksman responsibilities, risk awareness, communication principles, and health and safety compliance.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the Banksman Fundamentals Level 3 course, learners will receive a free digital certificate provided by Reed confirming their achievement and knowledge development. After obtaining the Reed certificate, learners will also receive a provider-issued course completion certificate, subject to verification of the Reed certificate.
