Overview

This four year course incorporates a Foundation Year to prepare you for undergraduate study, by developing your business knowledge and study skills.

This programme is designed to provide you with an overview of the main business disciplines with a focus on the area of marketing through an interactive, practically focused approach to teaching which will equip you with both the skills and knowledge required by today's employers.

You'll have access to external business professionals and industry bodies through guest speakers, entrepreneurial events and company visits. This will enable you to apply your understanding of business issues to the real world.

This course is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and you'll therefore automatically become a member of the CMI throughout the duration of your course and for one year after. Upon graduation you'll be awarded the CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership in addition to your degree. You'll enjoy access to a wealth of management resources including:

Description

The foundation year provides an overview to core business subjects. You will also develop skills in: research, presentation, critical analysis, problem solving, team building and entrepreneurship.

The first year of your degree will cover the key elements of business management.

Years two and three will examine these areas in more depth and focus on developing your employability skills. During your second and third years, there will be stronger focus on the area of marketing with modules focused specifically in this field. Due to the flexibility of this programme, should your career aspirations change, you can choose not to specialise and instead follow the BA (Hons) Business Management programme.

Throughout this course you'll also develop the skills and competencies required in the business world such as research, presentation, critical analysis problem solving team building and entrepreneurship.

Learning will take place both in and outside the classroom. This will include small workshops to promote group interaction and also facilitate a personalised approach to individual students.

In addition to face to face learning, you'll have access to online resources, including the Financial Times, case study simulations, learning videos, reading materials, online testing and feedback.

Requirements

32 UCAS points from the equivalent of one A level or 40 UCAS from the equivalent of two A levels. 5 GCSEs at A - C (9-4) including English and Grade D / 4 or above in Maths or equivalent qualifications.

An English language level equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or above with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.

Career path

This degree can be used as a platform into a wide range of business management and marketing careers, including marketing manager, management consultant, business analyst, operations manager and positions within a wider business context.
