Description
Description
For information purpose, the Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice cover the topics of the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment, how to internally assure the quality of assessment and to plan, allocate and monitor work in your own area of responsibility.
To achieve an award, candidates must complete a total of 12 credits from 2 mandatory units. To achieve a certificate, candidates must complete a total of 17 credits from 3 mandatory units.
- Unit 1 Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment: The aim of this unit is to assess knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices that underpin the internal quality assurance of assessment.
- Unit 2 Internally assure the quality of assessment: The aim of this unit is to assess the IQA candidate’s performance in assuring the quality of assessment from within an organisation or assessment centre.
- Unit 3 Plan, allocate and monitor the quality of work in own area of responsibility: The aim of this unit is to assess performance in leading the work of a team responsible for the internal quality assurance within an organisation or assessment centre.
Completion of unit 1 & 2 lead to the Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
However, completion of the entire three units leads to the Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
All units within these qualifications are internally assessed. The qualifications are criterion-referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes. To achieve a pass a learner must have successfully passed all the assessment criteria.
The award is made up of Unit 1 plus a practice based unit (Unit 2) where the learner will be required to monitor a minimum of two assessors, each with a minimum of two candidates of their own, through the components of a qualification. This Award is likely to be the one that is accessed by most IQA practitioners.
The certificate is made up of Unit 1 plus two practice-based units (Unit 2 & 3 – Management unit) that describe a competent practice which offers more flexibility to meet the needs of aspirant internal quality assurers.
An observation of assessment practice is an essential requirement of this programme (Unit 2 & 3)). All other assessment is conducted by the creation of a portfolio of evidence.
Who is this course for?
The course is for people who verify the work of other assessors, the third unit is aimed at those who lead the verification process and support other verifiers (this would normally be in a larger organisation).

Questions and answers
How many observations are required? Do these have to be at current place of employment? what if my place of work doesnt agree for me to be observed?
Answer:Hi Kelly, It has to be a minimum of one observation but ideally two. However, you can do a recording of the session and send to us. We dont have to visit the location. Kind regards, Lisa
This was helpful.Hi thank you for your reply re costs - why is the course advertised as £50 when each unit is more like £250? Thanks
Answer:The advertised cost covered the learning material and the tutor support including one to one tutorial. It does not include the cost of registration with the awarding organisation and certification, which is more than the advertised cost. On another note, our advert clearly stated that it doesn't include the assessment and certification fee and we also outline individual unit cost under the description if you scroll down.
