Unit 1: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (3 Credits)

Unit 2: Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment (6 Credits)

Unit 3: Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding (6 Credits)

Unit 1-Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment requires you to know and understand the principles and practices that underpin assessment. You will need to write an assignment demonstrating your knowledge and understanding and complete a workbook that shows your research into assessment practice and associated legal requirements. A knowledge-only Award for those who need to know about assessment but who are not currently practicing e.g. aspiring assessors or quality managers.

Unit 2-Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment is to assess your performance in assessing occupational competence in an individuals work environment. Observation of your practice in the workplace by your assessor is an essential assessment component of this qualification along with an assessment of work products and evidence of questioning your learners. Additional assessment methods that may be used could include witness testimonies and statements from learners. It is for those who assess occupational competence in an individual work environment. (Competence qualifications and NVQs)

Unit 3 Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding is to assess your performance in assessing vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace. This could be in workshops, classrooms or other training environments. You will need to provide evidence for at least three of the following assessment methods: Simulations, Skills tests, Oral and written questioning. Assignments, Projects, Case studies, Recognising prior learning. You will be assessed for this unit by observation of your assessment practice, examination of related work products, questioning and discussion. You will need to show evidence of carrying out two assessments of two different learners skills, knowledge and understanding (four assessments in total). This qualification is intended for those who assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work environment (for example, a workshop, classroom or another training environment). It includes the following assessment methods (although not all of these require performance evidence).

However, completion of the entire three units leads to the award of TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievements.
