The level 3 Diploma in Small Business and Social Enterprise Start-up is developed to provide applied learning, integrating knowledge and understanding with the development and application of the skills needed to set up and operate a small enterprise for a set period of time. The skill development is significant as learners must apply the knowledge and understanding gained in a practical application through one substantive overarching assignment.
The units in the qualification will give learners the opportunity to research, plan, run and review the operation of a small enterprise. Learners may operate the business or social enterprise as a sole trader or in a partnership with another student. Following the completion of the qualification, learners may decide to continue the enterprise independently or use the experience to help them to start their own small business at a future date.This course consists of 6 mandatory units that learners must complete in order to achieve the level 3 qualification in small business and social enterprise start up.

The Level 3 Diplomas within the IAP are designed to meet the needs of learners who are progressing from the study at Level 2, as well as those who are returning to learning
• Learners aged 16 or over, who have recently been in education or training
• 5 or more GCSEs at grades C and above or Grade 4 and above
• other related levels 2 subjects
• other equivalent international qualifications.
• Learners will need to have appropriate Level 2 standard in English and in particular Mathematics/Numeracy
