Description
On completion of the course, students will gain an understanding of Assistive Technology in the Workplace. You will explore what is meant by AT and what AT products are. We will cover how AT is regulated and provide statistics.
You will learn about the different types of AT in relation to different impairments, the benefits of AT for employers and employees and how AT can enhance the life of people at work. We will cover AT services and the components of AT providing examples of AT in the workplace.
You will learn about the people involved in providing an evaluation of needs and how AT supports a range of impairments. We will cover Access to work, reasonable adjustments and the key benefits of AT in work.
We will cover mental wellbeing and quality of work life as well as improving workplace communication. You will also learn about the WHO-GATE 5p framework.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
Units covered
- Unit 1 – Introduction to Assistive Technology – In the first unit we will cover what is meant by AT and what AT products are. You will explore statistics on AT and how it is regulated.
- Unit 2 – Types of Assistive Technology – In this unit we will examine the types of AT devices and the types of of At used in relation to different impairments. We will also cover remote working tools and accessible websites.
- Unit 3 – How to Implement Assistive Technology- In the third unit we will explore examples of AT in the workplace, AT services and the components of AT. We will also cover the people involved in providing an evaluation of needs and the WHO-GATE 5P framework.
- Unit 4 – What are the benefits of Assistive Technology – In the final unit we will cover AT in relation to employer benefits and how AT supports a range impairments. You will explore access to work, reasonable adjustments and the barriers to AT. You will also cover mental wellbeing being and quality of work life and how AT enhances lives at work.

This course is suitable for anyone wanting to increase their awareness and knowledge of assistive technology in the workplace.
Requirements
You are required to complete a 30 question multiple choice quiz at the end of the course. Where you need to achieve at least 80% or above to pass. You can complete the quiz as many times as you need to pass.
