Description

Why Do You Need Asbestos Awareness Training?

Construction Workers including carpenters, labours, plumbers, pipefitters, electricians, builders, and other construction-related building maintenance trades have very specific responsibilities when it comes to legislation and regulations surrounding Asbestos.

As Asbestos is probably the most dangerous/deadly building material ever used in the history of construction. Every year thousands of people fall ill and die because of exposure to asbestos and it was widely used by the construction industry right up until the year 2000.

The HSE states that Asbestos Awareness Training should be given to employees whose work could expose them to asbestos. In L143, the Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) accompanying the regulations, it is stated that this training should be a mixture of written and oral material, including demonstrations, where appropriate.

Our on-line e-learning Asbestos Awareness training course is approved by Independent Asbestos Training Providers (IATP) & ROSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents), it covers all the necessary legislation you need to stay safe and compliant and shows you how to recognise asbestos, where it is used and how to minimise the risks of working with asbestos.

The Health & Safety Executive states that refresher training should be taken at least annually Awareness training may be incorporated into general health and safety training and if working methods change, eg the type of equipment used to control exposure, the training may need to be undertaken more frequently than once a year.

However, if you work with, remove or disturb Asbestos this course will probably not be the correct one for you, and you should seek Cat B or C training.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
