Overview

Applied Animal Science Online Course. 1200 Hours Higher Advanced Diploma Course. (Endorsed by TQUK - Training Qualifications UK).

Higher Advanced Diploma in Applied Animal Science course online. Learn through home study/distance learning the basics of animal science. A specially designed certificate for people wishing to work or working in animal care, animal health care or environment wishing to deepen their knowledge in animal care, animal science and zoology. It is also very good foundation for those considering higher qualifications in animal studies, like Zoology, Mammalogy or Biology, as a shorter qualification before committing to longer studies.

The Academy for Distance Learning has a history of supporting wildlife projects. The world renowned Conservationist David Youldon, Chief Operating Officer of AFRICA NEEDS LIONS, completed our Advanced Certificate in Wildlife Management and with previous qualifications, went on to study a Masters in Biodiversity, Wildlife and Ecosystem Health at Edinburgh University. He was also accepted for a short course in Data Analysis in Ecology at the University of Oxford.

Currently we have the Primate Naturalist: Karin Saks, studying our Primatology course. Karin has been fostering and rehabilitating orphan baboons, caring for injured monkeys returned to the wild, plus promoting a harmonious co-existence between primates and humans since 1997. She also founded The Darwin Primate Group as a non-profit organisation in 2008 and in 2014, moved to Kwazulu Natal to research the endangered samango monkey populations in the Midlands.

As you can see, our courses are highly respected by conservationists actually working in the field to help save the wildlife of our world, so you really can trust ADL to help you develop the knowledge and skills you need, to get involved in the environmental welfare of animals.

  • Understand and study Animal Anatomy and Physiology
  • Learn about the different types of animals and the science that underpins managing animals as pets, farm animals or wildlife

This Higher Advanced Diploma consists of eight modules and a Research Project or 100 hour Industry meeting, covering Animal Anatomy and Physiology, Taxonomy (Classification), Behaviour etc. It also incorporates optional study in Environmental Assessment, a marketable skill for people who graduate with a good understanding of animals.

MANTOUX asked:

Could I apply to a top up BSC after this course?

Answer:

Hi Mantoux Many thanks for your question. The word-count on this platform is extremely limited, so is it possible for you to contact ADL's main office to discuss this with one of our administration team and go through your options regarding a Bsc? I cannot place a URL address on REED, or a telephone number, so please kindly google: "ADL, Academy for Distance Learning" and we are the first search result. We look forward to hearing from you. Kindest regards Amanda White General Manager

PETER KOKAS asked:

What are the progression routes to University after getting this diploma? Is it equal to one or two years University studies?

Answer:

Hi Peter Many thanks for your question. All ADL courses are endorsed by the Ofqual awarding body TQUK and have standing on University applications. A comparison in terms of "years studying at University" is not something I can offer I'm afraid. Our courses are used by Companies (including the NHS) Colleges and Universities all over the world as Professional Development. We have a "limited word count" on this platform, so please call our offices via our main website. Regards Amanda White

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
