This course will cover everything that you need to know about anaphylaxis and the common signs and symptoms to look out for.

In this course you will explore some of the risk factors that are associated with anaphylaxis and what some of the statistics are for the allergies and anaphylaxis worldwide and within the UK and Europe.

You will go into detail in this course about the types of allergic reactions and how to recognise a reaction early in the process as well as learning what the different kinds of allergic reactions are and the importance of recognising an anaphylactic reaction as quickly as possible.

This course will consider the 14 most common sources of food allergies and some high-risk locations that people with some food allergies should avoid in order to remain safe.

You will also consider pollen food syndrome and what causes this as well as what its main signs and symptoms are before ending with an exploration of stings and how insect venom can cause severe allergic reactions.

You will finish this our Anaphylaxis Awareness course examining the importance of food labelling and the legal requirements on companies to do this.

In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.

  • Unit 1 - Introduction to anaphylaxis - In unit one of our Anaphylaxis Awareness course you will be introduced to the meaning of anaphylaxis and look at the common signs and symptoms, the people likely at risk, and explore the links with asthma and anaphylaxis. You will then go on to explore some of the risk factors that are associated with anaphylaxis and what some of the statistics are for allergies and anaphylaxis worldwide and within the UK and Europe.
  • Unit 2 -What happens in an anaphylactic reaction - In this unit you will explore the types of allergic reactions. You will then study how to recognise a reaction early in the process as well as learning what the different kinds of allergic reactions are and the importance of recognising an anaphylactic reaction as quickly as possible.
  • Unit 3 - Common causes of anaphylaxis - This unit will examine some of the forms of airborne allergy. You will also consider the 14 most common sources of food allergies and some high-risk locations that people with some food allergies should avoid in order to remain safe.
  • Unit 4 - First aid - This unit will give you an indication of the kinds of medication that can be sued to treat mild to moderate allergic reactions such as antihistamines and lotions. You will also learn in this unit how such medicines should be stored safely within the home as well as learning about how to administer adrenaline by an auto injector such as an EpiPen.
  • Unit 5 - Management of an anaphylactic reaction and allergies - In this final unit of our Anaphylaxis Awareness course you will learn how parents can help their child to best manage an allergy and what the requirements are within the educational settings in relation to children with allergies before considering what an allergy management plan is in both work and an educational setting.
