Description

Course Structure

This professional level covers complex and advanced finance processes and topics. Students will be able to draft financial statements for limited companies, recommend strategy for accounting systems, and build and present complex management accounting reports.

It'll take around 560 hours to complete.

This course comprises of six units. This includes the four mandatory units, plus two out of the four optional units.

Accreditation

The course is accredited by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), the UK’s largest professional body for accounting technicians. AAT qualifications are the gold standard in practical accounting - they train over 70,000 people around the world each year, and award more than 90% of all vocational accounting qualifications.

The AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting (AQ2016 Syllabus) is worth 56 UCAS credits. It sits on the Qualifications and Credit Framework at Level 4, or Level 8 in the Scottish system.

Requirements

In order to enrol, candidates will need significant practical accounting experience or the Advanced Diploma in Accounting (or the Level 3 Diploma, as it was previously known). Our course advisors will be happy to ensure the selection of the right course.

Students wishing to enrol on this course must be 19 years or older with proficiency in the English language or an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent.

Career path

On completion of the AAT Professional Diploma, graduates will be fully qualified Accounting Technicians. Graduates will also automatically become affiliate members of AAT, and can apply for internationally-recognised professional MAAT status.

What is an ‘endorsed’ course?

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body’s logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as ABC Awards and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
