Overview

This ACCA Applied Skills course gives you the second step in your full ACCA qualification. It is the second of three levels of the journey to become a finance professional.

ACCA is a respected professional qualification. It will give you a complete rounded approach because you only qualify after completing at least 36 months of hands-on professional experience. ACCA members become exceptionally valuable to employers.

The majority of students start this part time ACCA course while in a finance role.

Computer Based Examinations (CBE)

Reed Business School is licensed to run the ACCA CBE for FBT (BT), FMA
(MA) and FFA (FA). These key papers underpin many of the topics explored in
future papers (for students studying the ACCA qualification). The courses are
structured to take each paper individually to ensure students focus on really
getting to grips with these fundamentals which will improve their chances of
success in the future. LW is also available as a CBE, and can be taken at the
Business School.

How is it structured?
There are three stages of exams for the full ACCA Qualification:

  1. Applied Knowledge
  2. Applied Skills - this course
  3. Strategic Professional

Plus an Ethics and Professional Skills module at the end and a 36 month professional work experience requirement.

The second stage is this course the Applied Skills exams which are the next step to the world of finance and accounting. They build on existing knowledge and understanding and develop strong, broad and practical finance skills required of future strategic professional accountant in any sector or industry. These exams are over 26 days of classroom tuition:

The best facilities

We are based in a stunning Cotswold manor house, but inside the traditional exterior we have amazing, up-to-date learning facilities in every classroom. We utilise Microsoft Teams to live record all our lessons - an invaluable resource for revision, to consolidate learning and to keep in touch with you course colleagues.

Do you need to stay over?

We have our own Cotswold cottage accommodation just a few metres from the business school. Rooms are available to book at an additional cost if you are based further away or if you would like to stay over to really concentrate on your studies in the evenings.

Who is this course for?

If you're thinking of starting a career in finance the ACCA Qualification is perfect for you. Typical starting job roles are Finance Assistant, Accounts Executive or Accounts Assistant.

This is the second stage in the ACCA qualification. There are 13 exams to complete, split in to the three stages (Applied Knowledge, Applied Skills and Strategic Professional), which will take three to four years on average to complete.

If you already have worked in finance for a while you may be looking to have a professional qualification, the ACCA course is the ideal choice. Some students who have AAT or a degree are eligible for exemptions. Visit the ACCA website to check what exemptions you may have .

Apprenticeships?

Are you currently employed and looking for a training provider for your professional qualification?

Reed Business School is listed on the Government Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers and are approved to deliver apprenticeship training (level 4 and 7) and can offer you advice on how to apply for the apprenticeship scheme. Being an apprentice will allow your employer to access significant funding options.

At the start of each ACCA student's apprenticeship we will agree a Individual Learning Plan with you, so you can map out your ACCA qualification journey.

Revision?

Our revision courses can be booked separately so if you've been studying towards one of the Applied Skills or Strategic Professional exams and you need that extra helping hand to get you through the exam then our revision course is for you.

Requirements

You can start your journey with ACCA if you have, based on UK qualifications:

  • Five secondary school qualifications (two A-Levels and three GCSEs or equivalent) – including English and Maths
  • We recommend that each student undertakes the basic Maths and English
    tests on the ACCA website before commencing

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
