Starting with the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting (Level 2), you will learn the fundamental principles and techniques use in Accounting today, as well as gaining an understanding of how to undertake double-entry bookkeeping and using Sage accounting software.
AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting (Level 3) focusses on providing you with an intermediate understanding of accounting practices, while training you to be able to handle more senior tasks, such as final accounts preparation and indirect tax. You’ll be awarded professional AAT Bookkeeper status, giving you AATQB status (and initials after your name) upon completion of this level.
Finally, the AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting (Level 4) will take what you have learnt throughout levels 2 and 3, while instructing you on more complex accounting skills, like evaluating financial performance and managing budgets. Completion of this course allows you to apply for the AAT full membership and achieve professional MAAT status (and initials after your name).

Exam Prep Sessions - To help students have the best chances of passing their exams, we have developed a series of regular exam preparation sessions. Before the session, students complete a pre-assigned mock paper in advanced, and your tutor will run through the paper and correct answers, informing you of what the AAT expect you to write and why. This helps you think in a way that will enable you to approach each question correctly, increasing the likelihood of you passing.
Live Online Classes - Your tutor will take you through a specific topic or module in an online classroom session.
General Accounting responsibilities & Salary
What can I expect from a job in Accounting?
Accounting responsibilities and salaries vary by job role and organisation, however, once you have completed the 3 courses in this package, you’ll be comfortable working on senior accounting tasks, like:
- Reviewing financial reports
- Reconciling account balances and bank statements
- Managing cash controls
You can earn an average salary of £32,500 – £42,500 a year, with some organisations offering some candidates over £60,000 a year.
AAT exams
All exams are computer-based exams, and there will be one per module. These exams will need to be taken at your local AAT test centre and the format includes multiple-choice questions.
Exam fees are not included in the course cost. Exams cost approximately £60-85 depending on the exam centre.

It’s best to complete the mandatory modules first and then decide which optional modules you want to study, as your decision may change by the time you complete the mandatory modules. One other thing to consider is that if you’re considering specialising in tax and time is approaching the end of the year, it’s best to wait until the new year, to ensure you have the most up-to-date books, as tax changes year-on-year.
