Who you'll work with

At Newcastle Building Society, you can expect to work with a vast variety of people over a range of different departments. We pride ourselves on our diverse staff community - it's one of the many reasons that make NBS such a great place to work! This was formally recognised in 2017, when we were awarded the prestigious Investors in People Gold Award.

As a Society, we encourage personal as well as professional development. Our staff are actively encouraged to take part in Volunteering days throughout the year, an initiative that is hugely popular and has further strengthened our relationship with the local community. Our colleagues recently volunteered at the West End Food Bank ("When we are all focused on Christmas festivities it was quite humbling to realise the number of people who rely on the Food Bank for essential food supplies" - Sally Peverley, Commercial Lending Team) and Newcastle Vision Support ("It was interesting to see how the older generation embrace new technology for Vision Impairment, I even picked up a couple of tips myself!” Angela Smith, Distribution Centre).

Across every department, our Society's staff are afforded extensive opportunities for professional development and career progression. From a variety of free online courses and innovative lunchtime learning sessions to our unique and hugely popular Big Swap Day - where employees are given the chance to sample another area of the business, spending the day in Financial Crime rather than Mortgage Advice, or migrating from Data Analysis to IT Solutions - for NBS staff the sky really is the limit!
