Who you'll work with

Our people are without doubt our most valuable asset and are fundamental to the success of CMS. We invest heavily in our people and aim to nurture and protect that investment. This commitment has been recognised by Investors in People Scotland, who have awarded CMS the prestigious Investors in People Gold Standard. We have also been successfully audited to become an Investors in Young People accredited company.

Training and skills

We take a comprehensive approach to training where skills training and competence is a priority. Currently, all our manufacturing operatives are trained to SVQ level and site operatives are trained to CSCS Card level. Site supervisors and site managers are trained to SVQ level 3 and level 4 and accredited to SMSTS. Administrative staff are also trained to NVQ, NC, HNC and HND level, whilst Fenestration Surveyors and Installers and are accredited to PAS2030 standards.

We recognise investing in developing our people at all levels is vital to improving leadership, management and employee performance and increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the company. Investing in our people has clearly influenced operational, motivational, cultural and behavioural changes impacting positively on the business, its employees, partnering organisations and customer base.

A Living Wage employer

In early 2015 we became one of the first manufacturing businesses of our kind to be a Living Wage Accredited employer. Well ahead of any legislative requirement, we took the step to ensure our workforce could maintain a sustainable career with CMS, particularly younger workers who are vital to the long term success of the business.

Apprenticeships

We have always placed great importance on providing Modern Apprenticeship places and to date we have given around 100 young workers the opportunity to build their career with us in this way. We have close links with local colleges and schools which allows us to encourage those looking for a vocation to join us at an early stage. Our commitment is so extensive that we are also accredited in-house for SVQ level assessments which ensures our support and development is to a consistently high standard.
