Working at Chiltern Wood Recycling Project

Chiltern Wood Recycling is a not-for-profit social enterprise, dedicated to keeping wood out of landfill. We are a small community project based in High Wycombe, which is part of a wider network of wood recyclers throughout the UK. 

Our project feels passionately about conservation and protecting the environment. The increase of habitat loss and the decline of some of the world's rarest animals is increasing rapidly, due to intensive harvesting of forest products and man's demand for more agricultural land. We are trying to minimise this impact by reducing the need for imported timber, from other parts of the world, as well as reducing the need for landfill in this country.

By recycling and reusing waste wood we are helping to reduce deforestation and the need for landfill, which in turn helps to prevent the release of CO2 and methane into the atmosphere. We then reuse or resell this wood, which locks up carbon and prevents it from damaging the environment.
