What we do

ORCHARD CAREERS

The heart of the community

Orchard Care Homes has been running and managing care homes across the UK for over a decade. Our mission: To be the positive choice for residents, their families and friends, healthcare professionals and staff.

By choosing Orchard Care Homes you are joining a progressive and ambitious group of care homes located across the United Kingdom. We are driven to provide the very best standards of care and quality within our homes, and to recruit the very best professionals to our company. Our commitment to training and development is core and we believe we are driving up the standards of quality of life care within our homes through our work with activities, third party charities and our food and beverage offering.

Our person-centered approach to care relies on the dedication and passion of our employees, who we expect to go the extra mile to improve the home experience and generate a relaxed and informal community within our homes.

We set our standards high and we are looking for enthusiastic people to help us grow, so we can lead the way in making our homes a rewarding and enjoyable place to live and work.

It’s the attitude you can bring to Orchard Care Homes that we value, not necessarily your background in care - we recruit people with previous experience, and those for whom a job in care represents a new beginning.

Whatever your level of experience we have a role for you. We are always looking for talented care assistants, cooks, housekeepers, laundry assistants, caretakers, administrators, activity coordinators, managers and deputies. From time to time we also have opportunities at our Support Centre in Harrogate.

Who you'll work with

Orchard Care Homes uses a blended approach to learning, which involves a range of teaching styles and formats to meet the learning requirements of our staff, and the different care needs of our residents.

All staff in our homes complete mandatory training courses on induction into the home, and then regularly as refreshers. Many of these courses are delivered online via our interactive Orchard World of Learning (OWL). These OWL courses are then backed up with a range of other means of learning including; practical face to face training, workshops, distance learning, workbooks and observations. This combination of training helps us to ensure our staff are fully trained and competent within their roles.

Orchard Care Homes invests time and money into developing their staff, offering an additional range of clinical and professional development courses. All our staff can undertake QCF awards as part of their development within the care sector. Awards are role specific and offered to all levels of staff. They include Management Awards, Team Leading, Level 2 and 3 Health and Social Care, Cleaning and Support Services, Activities and Administrative awards and Professional Cookery.

Orchard has a dynamic team of full time Training Executives and a Lead Trainer across the UK. The team delivers a wide range of face to face courses, conducts observations and competency assessments, mentors staff and helps to roll out company initiatives. Additionally, the Head of Training & Development and two Administrators manage the regional teams and coordinate the department from the Support Centre in Harrogate.

The training team comes from a variety of backgrounds including teaching and assessing, nursing, elderly care, learning disabilities, mental health services, adult learning settings and community care. The combination of skills and knowledge in both adult learning and a variety of care settings creates a skilled team able to meet the ever changing needs of our residents. Orchard Care Homes strives to provide the highest possible level of care for all of its residents, and the company recognises this can only be achieved with a highly skilled and motivated workforce, which is always developing and improving.
