What we do

We are Healthcare Improvement Scotland, an organisation with many parts and one purpose - better quality health and social care for everyone in Scotland.

We have five key priorities.

  • Enabling people to make informed decisions about their care and treatment.
  • Helping health and social care organisations to redesign and continuously improve services.
  • Provide evidence and share knowledge that enables people to get the best out of the services they use and helps services improve.
  • Provide quality assurance that gives people confidence in the services and supports providers to improve.
  • Making the best use of resources, we aim to ensure every pound invested in our work adds value to the care people receive.

Who you'll work with

We believe that every person in Scotland should receive the best healthcare possible every time you come into contact with your health service.

Healthcare Improvement Scotland is the national healthcare improvement organisation for Scotland and part of the NHS in Scotland.

We work with staff who provide care in hospitals, GP practices, clinics, NHS Boards and with patients, carers, the community and the public.

Our work drives improvements in the quality of healthcare people receive by providing quality improvement support to healthcare providers. An essential ingredient to the success of this work is our staff.

While our staff come from a variety of backgrounds and professional disciplines, the common denominator across our workforce is a drive to improve healthcare.

We regularly seek to recruit for a range of exciting and challenging roles, so if you have the drive and passion to improve healthcare, we want to hear from you.

Agile working

Healthcare Improvement Scotland is committed to agile working across our premises and we are progressing through stages of this, on a phased basis.
As we support new ways of working, a shared desk approach is being implemented across our main Glasgow and Edinburgh offices. Applicants should note that it may not be possible to allocate a fixed desk and if this is the case, storage solutions will be provided for you. Individual requirements will be taken into account on a case by case basis.
Our commitment to service

We look for ways to improve our recruitment practices. Your feedback can help inform the service improvements we make.
Recruitment policies

We have a number of organisational policies and procedures for all key areas of its activity. We believe that the right policies and practices in recruitment, performance management and promotion create the foundation for a culture that is fair and equal for all employees.
