HSBC

Category: Banking/Finance

What they do – HSBC is one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organisations – serving around 38 million customers worldwide. They have 3,900 globally based offices, where they provide retail banking and wealth management, commercial banking, global banking and markets, and global private banking services.

Who they’re hiring in 2017 – They’re recruiting for positions in customer service, project management, finance, accountancy, and more.

What they plan in the future – To develop their international network even further, making development opportunities for employees limitless across the globe.

Did you know? – HSBC offer extensive training and development schemes to their new employees, meaning a background in finance isn’t essential. They’re looking for talented individuals with a broad range of skills, from all degree disciplines.

Lidl

Category: FMCG 

What they do – Lidl is a supermarket chain which operates over 10,000 stores across Europe. They have over 650 UK based stores with roughly 20,000 employees, and take pride in their ability to provide customers with great quality products at low prices.

Who they’re hiring in 2017 – Roles on offer include everything from positions in customer service and store management to jobs in transport & logistics and admin.

What they plan in the future – They plan to offer a wide range of graduate schemes from September 2017, where you’ll be able to choose from sectors like logistics & supply chain, property, retail management, and sales. Aside from a generous salary, many of the schemes also include a fully expensed company car.

Did you know? – They’ve been named a top graduate employer in The Times Top 100 and by The Guardian – and it’s not hard to figure out why. Toys R Us

What they do – Toys R Us are the world’s leading family, leisure, baby care, and toy megastore. They operate over 1500 stores worldwide, providing a range of toys, multimedia, video games, bikes, and outdoor products for the whole family.

Who they’re hiring in 2017 – They’re recruiting for a wide variety of positions, from design, marketing and ecommerce, to HR, merchandising, and supply chain management.

What they plan in the future – Toys R Us plan to recruit a number of graduates in 2017, offering a 2-year-long graduate management programme to candidates with experience in retail or customer service.

Did you know? – Toys R Us offer its customers a flexible Christmas payment plan, designed to help shoppers spread the cost of the holiday season. And, as almost half of their revenue is earned at Christmas, the megastore hires extra staff to keep up with the festive rush (and to avoid any throwing toys out of the pram and/or trolley situations).

Royal Mail

What they do – Royal Mail are the UK’s designated universal postal service supplier, providing mail collection and delivery services to more than 29 million addresses countrywide.They make deliveries six days a week, come rain, wind or shine – whether it’s to consumers, businesses, or wider communities.

Who they’re hiring in 2017 – Alongside roles in delivery driving and customer service, they’re also hiring for positions in marketing, HR, and development.

What they plan in the future – They’re offering 11 graduate programmes this year alone, with opportunities including operations management, engineering, and HR, through to strategy, logistics, and technology.

New Look

Category: Retail

What they do – New Look is a leading fashion retailer which sells a range of women’s, men’s, and teen’s clothing. They operate a chain of 593 UK based stores, with an additional 297 all over Europe, China, and Asia. New Look also ship their products to around 120 countries worldwide via their online shop.

Who they’re hiring in 2017 – They’re looking to fill positions in merchandising, buying, and store management. They also have vacancies in design and copywriting.

What they plan in the future – New Look are offering a wide variety of graduate schemes and work placements for those just starting out in their career – with work experience opportunities in buying, PR, and design, and grad schemes in finance, IT, and ecommerce.
