Group Tax Manager
An opportunity has arisen for a talented tax manager to join Breedon’s group finance team based at Breedon-on-the-Hill, near East Midlands Airport (hybrid working available).The role will give the successful candidate exposure to a wide variety of UK taxes, together with some involvement in US and Irish taxes given the Group’s acquisitive nature. In addition, the role offers plenty of opportunity for cross functional collaboration with the wider business.About BreedonBreedon Group plc a FTSE 250 construction materials group in Great Britain, Ireland and the United States employing around 4,500 people. It operates two cement plants and an extensive network of quarries, asphalt plants and ready-mixed concrete plants, together with slate production, concrete and clay products manufacturing, contract surfacing and highway maintenance operations. The Group is highly acquisitive. In 2020 it completed the £178 million acquisition of trade and assets from Cemex which followed £455 million acquisition of Lagan Group in 2018 and the £336 million acquisition of Hope Construction Products in 2016, alongside various smaller transactions. In March 2024, Breedon expanded into the USA with the acquisition of BMC Enterprises Inc for USD$300 million. In March 2025, Breedon expanded further into the US market with the acquisition of Lionmark Construction Companies LLC for USD$238 million. Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with yearend current and deferred tax provisioning together with statutory disclosures for Group Reporting and subsidiaries Assist with preparation of Group monthly tax charge for management accounts reporting, together with Budget and Forecast models using CognosCalculate UK corporation tax quarterly payments on account Prepare and submit UK corporation tax computations and returns using OneSource softwareAssist with review and submission of all UK VAT returnsAssist with review and submission of Aggregates Levy returnsReview monthly intrastat returns and EC Sales List Review SDLT returnsReview and document existing tax processes and controls, and assist with the identification and implementation of improvementsProvide regular ad hoc advice to the business regarding VAT, CIS, employment status etcComplete annual PSA calculation and submission to HMRC,Assist with the roll out of changes arising from new tax legislation e.g. Scottish Aggregates TaxPrepare and present tax training to the business as requiredMaintain ongoing relationship with HMRC and our external tax advisors Skills, Knowledge & ExpertiseCandidates must be ACA or ACCA qualified and preferably CTA qualified. Previous tax experience gained in practice and/or industry is essential. This role would suit someone looking to further develop their career in tax having already taken the first step into an in-house tax role.
