Management Accountant
Job Description – Management Accountant (Temporary Ongoing)Reed Accountancy are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Management Accountant to join the finance team on a temporary ongoing basis. This is a varied and hands-on role, offering the opportunity to support key financial processes, provide meaningful insights, and contribute to continuous improvement across the function.Working closely with senior finance colleagues, the successful candidate will play an important part in ensuring accurate reporting, supporting decision-making, and maintaining strong financial controls.Reporting StructureThis role reports into the Financial Controller and working closely with colleagues across finance, including their transactional team. Whilst there are no direct line management responsibilities, the role will involve offering guidance and support where needed.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts, including analysis of costs, variances and performanceProduce balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any discrepanciesTake ownership of key areas such as stock, cost of sales and selected asset categoriesSupport the preparation of VAT returns and other statutory filings, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirementsAssist with budgeting and forecasting processes, providing clear and meaningful financial insightContribute to the preparation of information required for statutory accountsSupport transactional finance activities where required, including sales ledger, purchase ledger, cash and fixed assetsReview existing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and controlsMaintain clear and well-documented financial procedures and audit trailsWork closely with non-finance stakeholders to explain financial information and support decision-makingAssist with the use and development of financial systems, helping to identify opportunities for automation and improvementSkills and ExperienceFully qualified accountant (e.g. ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)Strong technical accounting knowledge, including experience of management accounting and double-entry principlesConfident working with financial systems and advanced Excel skillsExperience of working in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environmentProven ability to identify and implement process improvementsExcellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance colleaguesStrong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlinesA proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a teamThe role of Management Accountant is temporary ongoing, based in Coventry.
