We also offer an extensive benefits package, including private medical cover, an electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme, stock options, and 25 days of annual leave (increasing with service), alongside flexible and hybrid working.Whatever your ambitions or circumstances, our aim is to enable everyone to develop their knowledge, give their best, and enjoy what they do.About the roleWe have a brand-new opportunity for a Sustainability Consultant or Senior Sustainability Consultant to join our team, based in either Bristol, Plymouth, or Exeter.It's an exciting time to be part of our broader Sustainability discipline which has a presence in every Hoare Lea office across the country.We provide a diverse sustainability consultancy service promoting sustainable development for a range of projects, across all sectors.Our Sustainability Discipline is an industry leader in its approach to sustainable design, construction and building operation.Focused on achieving ever greater standards of environmental sustainability, the discipline thrives on its dynamic, innovative, and ambitious working culture.This is a rare opportunity to grow not only your own career, but the industry approach to your field of expertise as a whole.In this key and varied role, you can expect to:Support senior team members on large scale projects and take ownership of energy workstreams.Support or lead workshops with Clients and design teams and communicate information in a clear and concise manner.Support the training of junior members of the team e.g. in workstream delivery, consultancy and project planning.Undertake a range of modelling and analysis, which may included but not limited to:Building performance simulation - e.g. CIBSE TM54, NABERSBuilding Regulations Compliance, i.e. Part LThermal comfort and overheating assessmentsParametric design analysis/scenario modellingAppraisals for environmental assessments such as BREEAM, e.g. Passive Design or LZC studySupport the development of energy and sustainability strategies with our clients to lead sustainability innovation on new and existing developments.Supporting the drive towards realising net zero whole life carbon in our projects.Work within the Technical Excellence programme on research and development initiatives to allow us to stay at the cutting edge of knowledge in our industry.As well as project-related work, you would have the opportunity to engage directly with industry, undertaking research and development studies, and authoring industry guidance.About youYou are likely to have some knowledge and competence in a selection of the following fields.Core competenciesBuilding performance modelling:Building Regulations Part LNABERS UK Design for PerformanceIn use energy assessment e.g. CIBSE TM54, PassivhausDynamic modelling for thermal comfort and overheatingBREEAM credit appraisalsEnergy strategiesNet Zero carbon appraisalsAdvantageous competenciesAdvanced energy performance modelling competencies, i.e. ApacheHVACSustainability strategy developmentEnvironmental or wellbeing assessmentEnvironmental Impact AssessmentWhole life carbon assessmentCRREM analysisObtained or working towards the following certifications:Passivhaus DesignerCIBSE Low Carbon ConsultantCIBSE Low Carbon Energy AssessorNABERS UK assessorTo be successful in this role you will need:Experience working within the built environment sector.Already working within a sustainability or engineering consultancy, you will be looking for a new challenge within a practice at the very forefront of our field.You will bring expertise (with a degree in engineering/science, and experience in the field) and a passion for creating sustainable solutions.You will relish being part of dynamic team within a progressive and well-respected firm.You will have good communication skills and an enthusiasm for working within a team environment.Like us, you will be serious about sustainability.How to applyTo apply simply complete a CV profile and submit your application, or for further information please contact If shortlisted, one of our recruitment team will be in touch to arrange a introductory call (about 30 minutes) to discuss the role and your experience in more detail.
