All pupils attending the school have profound or severe learning difficulties alongside a diverse range of diagnoses and needs, including Autism and highly complex medical conditions. They are looking for empathetic, patient and kind Special Needs Assistant's to join them ASAP on an ongoing, possible temp to perm contract. You will ideally live in Portsmouth so you can easily commute to the school.You will joining a dedicated team of Special Educational Needs Teachers and Special Needs Assistant's to support pupils in their learning and development in all aspects of life, as well as supporting their medical needs.The suitable Special Needs Assistant will need to be flexible, energetic, resilient and committed to working with children, who need high levels of support in order to learn. You will be required to support students on a 1:1 and small group basis. Due to the nature of the setting, you may be required to carry out feeding and personal hygiene duties. A knowledge of using resources such as PECS and Makaton would be an advantage, but not essential.
