Job Title: Senior Conveyancing Assistant / ParalegalLocation: Southend-on-SeaSalary: £28,000 – £35,000 (Dependent on Experience)OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Conveyancing Assistant / Paralegal to provide high-level administrative and legal support within a busy Property Department. The successful candidate will have substantial experience in residential conveyancing, excellent organisational skills, and the confidence to work closely with a Partner on time-sensitive matters.This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional capable of managing a varied workload, maintaining exceptional client care standards, and ensuring the smooth running of the Partner’s caseload.Key ResponsibilitiesAdministrative & Legal SupportProvide comprehensive administrative support to the Partner, including:Preparing client quotesLiaising with the secretarial team on ongoing mattersDrafting and reviewing completion statements for Partner approvalOversee the opening, management, and closing of files in line with firm procedures and regulatory requirementsConveyancing Process ManagementAssist with residential conveyancing transactions, including:SalesPurchasesRemortgagesLiaise with clients, estate agents, lenders, surveyors, local authorities, management companies, other solicitors, and third partiesSupport the Partner with due diligence processesMonitor key deadlines and ensure all stages of the transaction lifecycle are progressed efficientlyCompliance & File ManagementMaintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Lexcel, SRA, and AML regulationsUpdate and manage case management systemsHandle financial administration, including:BillingRequisitioning fundsProcessing paymentsPreparing completion accountsAdhere to all internal procedures relating to data protection and confidentialitySkills & Experience RequiredEssentialMinimum of 5 years’ experience in a conveyancing secretary or assistant role, ideally at a senior levelStrong working knowledge of residential conveyancing processesExcellent written and spoken EnglishStrong IT proficiency, including case management systems, Microsoft Office, and online portalsAbility to work proactively, manage competing priorities, and support a Partner with a demanding caseloadHigh standard of client care and professional communicationExperience working within a busy or multi-partner property departmentWhat We’re Looking ForA reliable and highly organised individual who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment.
