Job Title: Senior Lawyer (PO6) – Housing & LitigationOrganisation: Local Authority (London)IR35 Status: Inside IR35Hours: 35 hours per weekWorking Hours: 09:00 – 17:00Location: LondonStart Date: 5 January 2026End Date: 31 March 2026Pay Rates:PAYE: £26.78 per hourUmbrella/Ltd: £33.37 per hourThe RoleA London-based Local Authority is seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer (PO6) to join its Housing & Litigation Team on a temporary basis to cover a service gap.This is a senior-level opportunity requiring the postholder to manage a complex legal caseload, provide high-quality legal advice to Members and senior officers, and support the effective delivery of statutory legal services.Key ResponsibilitiesManage an extensive caseload of complex housing and litigation matters as a senior member of the teamProvide high-level legal advice to Elected Members (including Committees), senior managers, staff, and external clientsRepresent the Authority in the Magistrates’ Court, County Court, Tribunals, and Inquiries, including instructing Counsel where requiredAdvise on complex and sensitive matters with significant legal, financial, and reputational implicationsLead, supervise, and mentor junior fee earners and legal support staffAllocate and oversee workloads within the team as directed by senior managementAdvise on the legal implications of transformation and service development projectsDeputise for the Assistant Head of Legal Services when requiredEnsure compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards, and local authority policiesContribute to training, guidance, and continuous improvement within Legal ServicesEssential RequirementsQualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal ExecutiveSignificant post-qualification experience within housing and litigation (local authority experience highly desirable)Proven ability to manage complex caseloads and work under pressure to deadlinesExperience supervising and mentoring legal staffExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong stakeholder engagement skillsHow to ApplyRibble Recruitment is assisting the Local Authority with this appointment and is managing candidate sourcing, screening, and the initial stages of the recruitment process.To apply or request further information, please contact:Lewis Ashcroft Ribble Recruitment Email: lewis@ribblerecruitment .com
