Principal Manufacturing Test Engineer

This is an opportunity to influence test strategy, solve challenging technical problems and broaden your impact across the full product lifecycle within the defence sector.Location and setupHybrid working in Hertfordshire, with regular on-site attendance required due to the nature of the work.What you will be doingSupport the introduction of new test systems and facilities from development through to production readinessDiagnose and resolve electrical and electronic test issues at system, sub-assembly and circuit card levelDevelop test specifications, operator instructions and supporting technical documentationWork closely with engineering, manufacturing and operational teams to overcome technical challengesContribute to production readiness activities and ensure appropriate configuration control is maintainedProvide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineersSkills and backgroundHNC, HND, degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering disciplineSignificant experience in electronics manufacture, test and fault findingStrong understanding of electrical, electronic and RF measurement principlesExperience supporting product development lifecycles within a manufacturing environmentAbility to prioritise multiple technical activities and deliver against project objectivesStrong written and verbal communication skills with experience producing technical reports and instructionsEssential requirementsAble to obtain and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearanceStrong background in electronic test engineering covering digital, analogue and RF technologiesExperience supporting products through development and manufacturing environmentsProven capability with manual and automated test systemsAble to produce technical documentation and communicate effectively with technical stakeholdersSalary and rewardsCirca £52,000 depending on experience, with added benefits, including:Annual performance related bonus opportunityPaid overtime opportunities where workload requires itFlexible working arrangements to support work life balanceEnhanced family leave policies including parental, adoption and related support provisionsEqual opportunitiesOur client is committed to creating an inclusive working environment and welcomes applications from suitably qualified individuals from all backgrounds.
