Payroll OfficerLocation: Knowsley (Hybrid Working)Salary: £33,000-£35,000Hours: 37.5 per weekHoliday: 25 days + Bank HolidaysAn established and growing organisation based in Knowsley is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to manage UK payroll in partnership with an external payroll provider.This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional (ideally working in a bureau, or someone with previous bureau or outsourced payroll experience), who is looking for an in-house environment with greater ownership and visibility.This is a standalone role within the Finance team, working closely with HR and reporting directly to the Financial Controller.The RoleThis is a hands-on payroll coordination position covering weekly and monthly payroll cycles. The role requires strong Excel capability and a high level of accuracy.Key responsibilities include:Managing weekly and monthly payroll processesCollating and consolidating Excel timesheets into master payroll spreadsheetsSubmitting payroll data to an external payroll bureauChecking, validating and reconciling payroll reportsProcessing expenses, allowances, bonuses and salary sacrifice arrangementsManaging statutory payments including SSP, SMP and SPPEnsuring compliance with PAYE, NIC and HMRC requirementsPosting payroll journals and supporting audit processesActing as the primary internal contact for payroll-related queriesThis role requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Candidate ProfileThe successful candidate will have:Proven experience coordinating or managing weekly and monthly payrollStrong working knowledge of PAYE, NIC, statutory payments and HMRC complianceAdvanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas and data validationExcellent attention to detail and organisational skillsConfidence working in a standalone payroll positionBenefits£33,000-£35,000 salaryHybrid working25 days annual leave plus Bank HolidaysOption to buy or sell up to 5 additional daysGenerous employer pension contributionAnnual bonusHealth schemeApplication ProcessThe recruitment process consists of a single face-to-face interview.If you are currently working in payroll, this role could be an excellent next step.Apply now to be considered.
