Senior Payroll Officer - Oxfordshire
Location: Oxford (Hybrid working may be considered)Salary: circa £40k - £45kContract: Full-time Are you an experienced payroll professional looking for a role where you can make a real impact? We are seeking a Permanent Senior Payroll Officer to lead the coordination and oversight of outsourced payroll services across two schools in Oxford, supporting approximately 400 employees. This is a key role ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with statutory requirements, and delivering a high standard of service to staff and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Act as the primary liaison between school staff and the outsourced payroll provider.Oversee the monthly payroll cycle, ensuring all data (starters, leavers, changes) is accurate and submitted on time.Review payroll outputs for accuracy prior to approval and payment.Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, employment law, and pension schemes (Teachers’ Pension Scheme, LGPS).Prepare payroll reports, support audits, and assist with salary budget forecasting.Manage pension contributions, benefits, and deductions, including salary sacrifice schemes.Drive process improvements and maintain alignment between internal records and provider data.Provide clear communication and support to staff on payroll matters. What We’re Looking For Significant experience in payroll administration or coordination, ideally in education or multi-site settings.Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, tax, and pension regulations.Experience working with outsourced payroll providers.Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
