Paralegal Role This is a 12-month FTC with a leading organisation in the private healthcare sector, offering a professional, fast-paced environment with a strong focus on patient care, compliance, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. Job Summary Working within a friendly, busy, small in-house legal team, the selected candidate will be negotiating, drafting and amending NDAs and commercial contracts, carrying out legal research, working on compliance matters and providing guidance on commercial legal issues to the wider business. The role also involves helping to manage claims, working closely with professional indemnity insurers, external counsel, the Head of Legal and other senior lawyers in progressing and resolving matters. The ideal candidate will be a paralegal with relevant commercial contracts experience (although other candidates will be considered). Drafting skills are essential, and candidates with in-house experience are particularly sought after. To succeed, the candidate should demonstrate strong teamwork skills while being confident in taking on their own responsibilities under supervision and training. The legal team operates a hybrid working pattern, offering the opportunity to work from home and at the organisation’s offices. Duties and Responsibilities Reviewing, drafting and negotiating NDAs, data transfer agreements and a variety of commercial contracts on standard terms.Working directly with senior lawyers and legal support staff to manage claims, liaising with professional indemnity insurers, external solicitors and internal stakeholders.Conducting relevant legal research as requested.Assisting the legal team with day-to-day legal queries from colleagues across the organisation (including but not limited to contract law, IP law, tax law, employment law, competition law including CMA compliance, data protection law and property law).Collaborating cross-functionally with teams such as InfoSec, IT, Estates, HR and Clinical teams on projects and attending meetings as the legal representative.Establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships within the organisation to ensure timely and consistent delivery of legal advice.Drafting, reviewing and updating policies, procedures and contract templates.Assisting in the roll-out of a new contract management system, including training colleagues on its use.Managing relationships with external stakeholders such as suppliers, external legal counsel and regulators.Supporting the Legal Admin Executive with contract management, approval and execution processes.Working as part of a supportive team to deliver the organisation’s shared vision and strategy.Complying with internal policies, particularly those relating to contract review, approval and procurement. Qualifications Law graduate with LPC or SQE, or non-law graduate with GDL and LPC/SQE (guidance only – all candidates considered on merit). Experience Proven experience as a paralegal or similar legal role in a commercial environment.In-house experience (via secondment or permanent role) desirable. Knowledge Strong interest in healthcare and related business issues.Experience in healthcare or charity sector desirable.
