Laboratory Team Leader Saint Gobain Interior Solutions East Leake, Nr Loughborough Are you someone who is passionate about leading and managing teams in a laboratory testing environment? At our UKAS accredited laboratory based at our technical centre where we conduct testing for Saint Gobain group companies and external customers, we are looking for a Laboratory Team Leader to lead a small team of technicians and scientists, to provide a professional, confidential, and accurate testing service for customers in the field of Acoustic, Structural and Physical testing. The Laboratory Leader's purpose is to ensure day to day running of the laboratory is completed safely and meets the needs and expectations of our internal and external customers. You will act to ensure we are a trusted partner offering world class and credible construction material test facilities. Part of your role will include ensuring we are operating compliantly against UKAS standards through internal auditing, training, and hosting external audits. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the laboratory and the flow of work through the team to achieve customer requirements. Your work will include planning, resource management, and problem solving to eliminate interruptions in testing activities.You will be actively managing the team to include recruitment, training and development plans, appraisals, 121's and employee relations. Saint Gobain Interior Solutions is 3 companies of 30 Saint-Gobain brands, SGIS consists of our British Gypsum, Isover, and Celotex brands where we manufacture a range of gypsum plaster and polymer insulation products for the construction sector. This is a full time position based at our East Leake facility, predominantly Monday to Friday with occasional flexibility required. What we're looking for: The ideal candidate will be as a minimum degree educated in a science related subject and will be able to demonstrate a combination of people management and hands on industry experience in a laboratory testing environment. We do offer specific training on the testing processes and materials we work with so if you haven't worked in our industry that's ok, candidates with experience in a similar role in other industries are encouraged to apply. Educated in a science related degree.Experience in managing safety is critical, formal training such as IOSH or similar is highly desirable.Experience and training in lean principles would be advantageous, such as 5s.Experience in testing processes, data collection and interpretation.Leading within a UKAS environment and knowledge of CPR and notified bodies would be an advantage however applicants that can demonstrate experience in compliance and auditing against other recognised standards are encouraged to apply.Strong attention to detail.An experienced manager with full people cycle experience.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple simultaneous priorities What you will be doing: Ensuring compliance with the latest standards, regulations, and best practices. Active involvement and attendance with national and international committees to understand future changes and to ensure we have a voice in these communities and can plan for change.Responsibility for the performance and smooth running of the day to day testing. Contributing to the planning of team resources and capabilities to ensure we can meet challenging testing schedules.Anticipation of issues with excellent communication and planning to ensure there is no disruption to service.Responsible for developing team members to ensure they have the necessary skills to conduct testing competently and safely.Ensuring compliance against UKAS standards through training and audit processes.
