Job Title: WAN Implementation Engineer (for a leading global financial services institution) Location: Hybrid, 1 day per week in a London officeEmployment Type: 6-Month Contract (Inside IR35) (Daily rate is yet to be confirmed)Weekend Work: Migration tasks are primarily scheduled for Saturdays, with occasional Sunday work as required. About the Role: We are seeking skilled WAN Network Implementation Engineers to play a key role in a major migration project, transitioning from the old Sigma network to the new SD NET infrastructure. If you have experience with large-scale network transformations and hands-on WAN implementations, this role is ideal for you. The project involves working on layer 2 and layer 3 VPN migrations, primarily scheduled over weekends. Key Responsibilities: Hands-on implementation of WAN solutions and network migration tasks. Configure and support WAN technologies, including OSPF/IS-IS, BGP, MPLS VPNs, QOS, Multicasting, VPWS, and both Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity. Perform device replacements and Router code upgrades. Manage network migration tasks within live production environments. Support the technology life cycle through design, implementation, and maintenance to deliver high-quality outcomes. Coordinate and schedule capacity upgrades and network changes while ensuring service level objectives are met. Collaborate with internal teams and third-party vendors during upgrades and implementations. Document system configurations and monitor network performance, contributing to business improvements. Project Overview: Migration Scope: Transitioning from the Sigma network to SD NET, focusing on layer 2 and layer 3 VPNs. Weekend Work: Migration tasks are primarily scheduled for Saturdays, with occasional Sunday work as required. Skills and Qualifications: Extensive hands-on experience in WAN implementation and large-scale network migration projects. Proficiency in key WAN protocols and technologies: OSPF/IS-IS, BGP, MPLS VPNs, QOS, and Multicasting. Experience with device replacements, Router upgrades, and network transformations in production environments. Strong documentation and network performance monitoring capabilities. Familiarity with runbook-driven implementation processes. Preferred but not mandatory: Basic automation skills with tools like Ansible.
