In recognition of the considerable challenges we face in the future the industry regulator Ofwat has set out the biggest investment in infrastructure since privatisation. With £4 billion to boost water supply and £2 billion for nature based solutions in the recently published draft determination for the period 2025-30. This includes funding for significant solutions to ensure long-term national resilience, security of supply for the future and lowering demand through unprecedented leakage reduction and smart meter installation programmes. Stantec’s engagement with water resources planning initiatives across the UK and Ireland has grown significantly since 2020. This has included working across several Strategic Resource Option (SRO) investigations in England and Wales, Water Resource Management Plans (WRMPs), Drought Plans and WINEP investigations. This continues to be a growing focus for Stantec in 2024 and beyond, helping water companies deliver their AMP8 schemes and plan for the future. As a member of our multidisciplinary and collaborative team, you will: Be involved in the planning and implementation of water resource projects, ensuring they adhere to scope, budget, timescale, quality and regulatory requirements.Be expected to bring experience to the team in hydraulic modelling, water resource modelling or optimisation modelling. Applying advanced modelling concepts to real-world problems.Be willing to support the wider water resources team when required, complement the other specialisms within the team and work flexibly on a variety of projects.Have a willingness to grow your internal and external networks to achieve positive outcomes for your projects.Run commercial projects, bids and proposals on time within budget and quality constraints with limited supervision. About youWe welcome people from varied backgrounds (regulatory, water company or consultancy) who have recent experience applying their knowledge of water resources in policy and technical areas. We are looking for people who are used to working in fast-paced multidisciplinary teams and working closely with their clients, statutory authorities, and other stakeholders. Ideally, you will have had previous involvement in the assessment and development of WRMPs, regional plans, SROs, and drought plans. We are looking for: Experience in water resources projects undertaking: WR modelling, development of components of the supply-demand balance, abstraction impact assessments, hydrological, hydrogeological and/or water resources assessment, drought trigger development, demand forecasting, options appraisal, investment modelling or development of risk and uncertainty.Strong experience in the analysis of water resources and hydrological data.Experience of using modelling sofware, such as Pywr, Miser and Aquator to inform decisions on water resources availability and operation of sources.Extensive in the water industry.A degree in a relevant subject, such as geography, geological sciences, environmental science, civil or environmental engineering and preferably hold a postgraduate degree in hydrology, hydrogeology and/or water resources management.Active involvement with relevant institutions such as CIWEM, Institute of Civil Engineers or the Institute of Water and either chartered or working towards your professional chartership. HR Business Partner Overview: Reporting into the Head of HR, the HR Business Partner will provide HR leadership and business partnering support at the site by working closely with the site leadership and management teams, as well as the various teams within the wider UK & Ireland HR function to ensure all HR activity is adding value in line with the site plans and strategies, and is aligned to wider HR priorities for the region. HR Business Partner Duties: To play a central role as part of the Site Leadership Team, developing strong, credible relationships with the team, and being instrumental in setting site direction and strategy, and leading on the creation of people strategy. Own the HR agenda for site/functions in line with agreed functional agendas covering performance management, talent development, engagement, reward and industrial relations. Work in partnership with senior leaders and senior managers on establishing and implementing solutions that support the ongoing development of leadership capability. Provide coaching support to the wider management team on people related matters. Work with leadership teams to identify key areas impacting upon business performance such as functional capability or engagement levels. Accountable for the measurement and evaluation of issues and work in partnership with sites/functions to build action plans to improve performance. Own and lead the creation of site people plans that are fully aligned to site strategic priorities and wider HR priorities, ensuring full integration of the HR agenda for the site, including engagement and site driven L&D priorities. Build strong relationships with site trade union teams that foster positive employee relations across the site. Partner with the General Manager on ongoing engagement with the site trade unions, including pay negotiations and other matters requiring consultation on change. Lead the site relationship with Regional Trade Union Officials and National Officers. Lead resolution of complex collective grievances and disputes, in partnership with site senior management. Partner with Senior Exec members to lead resolution of complex collective grievances and disputes at other locations as required (ie where appealed). Maintain close links with other HR Business Partners across the UK to ensure consistency of HR practices and the management of any read across and wider implications of local site wide initiatives or decisions. Partner with the Site Lead on creation of future facing site change plans including organisation design, with responsibility for leading people workstreams, including creation of proposals and colleague impacts as well as partnering on organisational design. Developing Site driven CSR agenda, accountable for creation, maintaining and delivery of this agenda, and execution of central CSR agenda. Developing site driven Inclusion & Diversity and Employee Value Proposition plans, and execution of central IDE/EVP agenda. Developing and maintaining a clear understanding of the L&D offering within the site and optimise opportunities to ensure these are accessible to targeted groups/individuals in order to develop colleague, management and leadership capability levels.
