Benefits, Taxation and Income Officer Job Type: Full-time, Temporary ContractLocation: Barnsley S70Salary: £13.26 PAYE per hour (Umbrella rate available) We are seeking a dedicated Benefits, Taxation and Income Officer to join our team. This role involves providing a comprehensive service in areas such as Benefits, Council Tax, Non-Domestic Rates, Free School Meals, and the recovery of monies owed. The position also includes customer service responsibilities within a dynamic financial services environment. Day-to-day of the role: Carry out assessments of free school meals, various types of housing benefits, and council tax support, including areas of subsidy loss and discretion.Assist in providing a comprehensive Non-Domestic Rates Service and Council Tax Service, dealing with the administration and maintenance of accounts and the award of discounts, exemptions, and reliefs to ensure correct billing.Contribute to an effective debt recovery service.Undertake telephone duties, particularly with regard to the division's crosscutting telephony team, in line with wider customer services principles.Respond to, investigate, and resolve complex queries, handle complaints and difficult customers, ensuring a customer-focused service, and keeping them informed of progress and actions.Input, check, and maintain accurate records using specialist systems, ensuring information is stored appropriately and confidentially.Assist in the preparation of data and statistical returns to support effective compliance management.Administer documentation and correspondence related to Benefits, Taxation, and Income, assisting in the delivery of performance linked to corporate objectives and development of actions to address exceptions. Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience working in a Financial Services environment.Proven experience in customer services and debt collection.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal formats with the public, other employees, and external organisations.Strong decision-making and judgment skills, capable of handling and processing large amounts of complex manual and computerised information with accuracy and confidentiality.
