Job Title: Finance AssistantLocation: Eastbourne, East SussexJob Type: Permanent (Part-Time)Working Hours: 3 days per week or part-time hours across 5 daysSalary: Up to £30,000 per annum (pro rata, dependent on experience) + benefitsOur client is a well-established, independent firm of Chartered Accountants with offices across East Sussex. They provide a full range of accountancy, tax, and advisory services to SMEs, individuals, and specialist sectors.The RoleWe are currently recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join a busy and growing accounts team. This is a varied, hands-on position ideal for someone with prior finance or accounts experience who enjoys working across multiple areas of transactional finance and client support.The role will involve supporting day-to-day financial operations, assisting with month-end processes, and liaising with clients and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely financial processing.Key Responsibilities:Processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit control activitiesManaging standing order payments, cashbooks, and month-end transfersLiaising with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve finance queriesMaintaining accurate financial records within accounting systems (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)Supporting month-end processes, including journals, accruals, and basic reportingManaging new client proposal software (Ignition), including daily notifications, payments, and AML-related billing checksUpdating weekly office fees spreadsheets and completing monthly reconciliations (YTD checks)Assisting with billing processes, including bookkeeping, payroll invoicing (via outsourced provider), and ad hoc sundry invoicesProcessing WIP write-offs and credit notesSupporting Tax Investigation Claims administrationGeneral finance and administrative support as requiredEssential:Previous experience in a finance assistant or accounts-based roleStrong numeracy skills (minimum GCSE Maths or equivalent)Good working knowledge of Microsoft ExcelExperience using accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks)Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a teamBenefits:Discretionary performance-related bonusOptional private medical insurance (post-probation)10% of the first year's fee for any clients introduced personally, rather than as part of role.
