This is a highly rewarding role providing support to families in the Portsmouth area.Whether you’re an experienced Family Support Worker, Outreach Worker, Teacher, Foster Carer, Parenting Assessor—or you’ve supported parents in similar roles (particularly around routines and boundaries)—we’d love to hear from you.This is a flexible, part-time position, ideal for those available during mornings, evenings, weekends, and school holidays. You will be engaged through Jonehouse Recruitment and placed with families who need your support most.About the Role: You will deliver practical, compassionate, and targeted support to families facing emotional, financial, or situational challenges. The goal is to strengthen parental confidence, promote positive routines, and create nurturing home environments through strength-based, trauma-informed interventions.Key Responsibilities:Support parents in confidently caring for their children and managing emotional developmentWork with the whole family to foster secure attachments and consistent routinesDeliver personalised, evidence-based parenting interventionsGuide families on behaviour management, boundaries, and child developmentConduct strength-based assessments and develop outcome-focused plansProvide practical help (e.g., daily routines, navigating services, attending appointments)Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concernsPromote resilience and long-term change in home environmentsPerson Specification:Essential:Background in family support, outreach, education, fostering, or similar rolesExperience supporting parents in creating structure and routineUnderstanding of safeguarding, parenting support, and early help processesAbility to work respectfully and non-judgementally with diverse familiesConfident using trauma-informed, strength-based approachesStrong communication, time management, and record-keeping skillsDesirable:Relevant qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or Early Years)Experience delivering parenting programmes (e.g. Triple P, Solihull, Incredible Years)Familiarity with restorative and resilience-building approachesAdditional InformationTravel to family homes and community settings is required – you must be able to commute locally to PortsmouthEnhanced DBS clearance is essentialYou will be contracted as agency staff through Joneshouse RecruitmentInterested?If you’re passionate about helping families thrive—and want a part-time, flexible role where your skills truly make a difference—we’d love to hear from you.
