Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Lawyer for our client a government organisation in Devon.The successful post holder will be an experienced local government lawyer with substantial recent experience in civil litigation and judicial review.This role is a temporary contract initially for 3 months with the possibility to extend. This role can be completed via remote working.Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:Oversee and manage a caseload in an area of law allocated.Respond to requests for advice, representation etc, from employees.Manage all aspects of court representation as required.Advise and/or present to courts, meetings, members at formal appeal hearings or as required by the County Solicitor.Assume a lead role in advising clients on specialist aspects of law and practice as required, e.g. Procurement, Employment, Human Rights, Child Care, Adult Social Care, Property and to organise/participate in training events as appropriate and/or necessary.Determine appeals under the Internal Dispute Resolution Procedure of the Local Government Pension Scheme and various internal appeal procedures if require.Take part in the Legal Services’ Out of Hours service to provide assistance to the Emergency Duty Team on matters of Childcare and Adult Social Care.Offer some supervision to junior members of the team.Personal Requirements:Educated to degree level.Law Society admitted and Solicitor Regulatory Authority registered solicitor, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives or Bar Standards Board registered barrister.Must have substantial recent judicial review experience.Be willing to learn new areas of law to be able to provide fast paced legal advice on a range of topics.Local government experience is essential, County Council experience is desirable.Excellent written and verbal skills.Basic DBS check needed.Working Hours: 37hrs / 8:30am - 17:00pm / Monday - FridayPay: £55.00 per hrPlease note this role is within the scope of IR35.
