Principal Commercial Officer
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Principal Commercial Officer to join a commercial team, managing Domestic Commercial contracts through the full contract life cycle – from bidding and negotiation through to execution and closure.This role performs the duties of business winning, negotiation, and contract management, and reports to senior commercial staff, supporting major new business campaigns and delivering Defence Capability to the UK Armed Forces and other customers.Key Responsibilities:Playing a key role in winning new contracts and agreements of medium to high complexity, supporting the full Route to Contract and protecting the business's commercial interestsWorking within a multi-functional bidding team to generate proposals, including reviewing and drafting contract termsSupporting senior commercial staff on major new business campaignsGaining acceptance and agreement on issues and amendments to ensure contractual compliance within agreed boundariesActing as a vital part of the delivery chain, ensuring contractual promises to customers are met, including change management, problem solving and administrationIdentifying commercial risks and opportunities associated with bids and contracts, and working with other departments to develop mitigation strategiesBuilding and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers and industry partners, with a focus on collaborationActing as the interface with internal project teams, providing commercial adviceCommunicating with stakeholders at all levels, including reporting to senior management on the progress of your portfolio of workRepresenting the commercial team in progress reviews and/or customer meetingsThe ideal candidate would have:Awareness and practical applicability of Intellectual Property and its protectionAwareness of Import and Export restrictions and licencing requirementsAbility to understand and use pricing and costing modelsGood knowledge of IT and business tools, including SAPThe ideal candidate must have:Advanced negotiation and interpersonal skillsStrong process and change management experienceExperience managing more complex, high value contractsEffective team behaviours, with strong influencing and team working skillsBroad experience across commercial issues, including bidding and contract management throughout the full contract lifecycleSolid commercial understanding, from customer through to supplierGood understanding of contract law and its applicabilityAbility to draft or modify terms and conditionsUnderstanding of liabilities and risk mitigationThis position offers a lucrative benefits package, which includes but is not limited to:Company bonus scheme, based on company performanceStrong employer pension contributionOpportunity for paid overtimeGenerous flexi leave allowance, with additional days availableFlexible working arrangements welcomedEnhanced parental leave, covering maternity, adoption, shared parental and paternity leave, plus neonatal leave and fertility testing/treatment supportExcellent on-site facilities, including subsidised meals and free car parkingIf this role looks like your next challenge, please contact Jack ASAP or apply via this advert!Please note that due to the nature of the client's business, only candidates who currently hold full British Citizenship (without limitations) / Dual Nationality (inclusive of British Citizenship) will be considered.We endeavour to reply to every candidate, every time but if you haven't heard back within 10 days, please understand that you have unfortunately been unsuccessful for this position, or the position has been filled.
