CITB is an employer-funded and employer-led charity and non-departmental public body, and the government's statutory industry training board for the construction industry in Great Britain. Based in Peterborough, with an income of around £270 million and approaching 800 employees, their purpose is to 'support the construction industry to have a skilled, competent and inclusive workforce now and into the future'. They aim to do this by improving construction's people pipeline, creating defined training pathways, and delivering an efficient training supply. What you'll do… The Finance Director is a key and pivotal role which will provide operational leadership and management of the organisation's Finance function resulting in the delivery of great value services that make a difference to employers and its own staff. Operating at a senior level, and reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, this role leads the CITB's finance, performance, and planning functions. Servicing the Board and Executive Team and working directly with the CITB Leadership Team, as your key stakeholders, this role provides a great opportunity to add value to and demonstrate impact for the organisation. You will providing accurate, consistent, reliable, and timely data to inform better decision making, the maintenance of internal control, and good governance. To achieve this, you will need to work effectively and efficiently with internal teams, and an outsourced business process and systems partner, to ensure their services are delivered seamlessly and with a focus on continuous improvement, driving value for money for the function, and for CITB overall. You will be responsible for the full remit of the finance function, ensuring the efficient billing and collection of the statutory levy, the generation of commercial income and driving the achievement of the annual Business Plan and four-year Strategic Plan, through your effective product and service planning and performance management. What they're looking for… The ideal candidate will be a finance professional and be ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA qualified or equivalent, with previous experience of leading a high performing finance team. Experience of working with outsourced service providers will be an advantage and delivering transformational change and developing and appraising business cases is also key. You will have gravitas, drive, ambition and above all a strong degree of commercial and financial acumen. In addition to the ability to liaise with high level key stakeholders, you will create insightful financial and operational performance information that will direct business planning and in-year delivery. You will be a proven strong team leader who is able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation. CITB has a pragmatic team culture, so it is essential that you have the ability to "roll up your sleeves" and be involved in the day-to-day operations. In addition, a key element of the role will be coaching and influencing others to continue to innovate and improve their financial, planning and performance management processes. With a successful track record of developing teams and strategic leadership, you will be hugely commercial yet comfortable in a charity and public sector regulated environment and competent at supporting disparate teams across multiple locations.
