Resident Engineer (Electrical Bias) WPS ¦ Birkenhead We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Resident Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join our team based at Millers Quay, a prestigious waterfront residential development in Birkenhead. The site consists of six high-rise apartment blocks (circa 500 apartments), along with a gym and pavilion, and requires a dedicated on-site engineer to support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of building services. About the Role As Resident Engineer, you will be responsible for the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance of electrical and associated building services, as well as responding to engineering emergencies on site. You will take ownership of the day-to-day M&E activity, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Strong time management, problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently are essential in this role. Key Responsibilities Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance across electrical systems and building servicesRespond to site engineering emergencies in a timely and professional mannerManage and maintain the day-to-day running of M&E tasks on siteUse the client’s CAFM system to accept and manage jobs, ensuring SLAs are met and paperwork is uploadedSupervise subcontractors, ensuring RAMS are reviewed, approved and followedLiaise effectively with the client’s site management team, helpdesk and other engineersEnsure all works are delivered in line with company policies, procedures and health & safety standardsCarry out basic fire door inspections (training provided)Undertake basic plumbing and fabric works where required About You Electrically qualified with C&G Level 3 and 18th EditionExperience working in a resident / site-based engineering role or similar FM environmentBasic knowledge of domestic plumbing and fabric works is advantageousConfident multitasking, working to deadlines and problem solving on the jobStrong communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally with clients and colleaguesComfortable using Microsoft Excel, Word and OutlookCAFM experience desirable but not essential – full training providedCommitted to promoting health & safety excellence in line with Wates’ Zero Harm culture What We Offer Competitive salaryOn-call rota with overtime availablePPE, tools and uniform providedEmployee Assistance Programme (EAP)Employee discounts with a wide range of brandsPension with 5% employer contributionHealth and wellbeing programme22 days annual leave plus bank holidaysExcellent learning and development opportunitiesIndustry-leading family leave, including 26 weeks fully paid maternity and 8 weeks fully paid paternity Given the nature of this position, you will need to undergo a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) at offer stage.
