Commodity Buyer
Our client, a market leading manufacturing firm is looking for a Commodity Buyer to join their procurement team. The role of Commodity Buyer is crucial in ensuring that customers’ expectations for their projects are met. Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, the role of Commodity Buyer would suit an existing buyer with some technical understanding or someone with a manufacturing, quality or engineering background and an interest developing their expertise in Supply Chain activities.As part of your role your primary role will be the following:Technical Supply Chain• Responsible for the procurement of non-electronic component buying tasks. These include (but not limited to) PCBs, Metalwork, Special Processes (Re-ball / Hot solder dip), Programming of devices, Parylene Coating Services and Consumable materials for production.• Provide advice and guidance on the following processes; PCB and Metalwork Drawings and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and act as subject matter expert within the team.• Lead the procurement team’s understanding of counterfeit avoidance• Assist in satisfactory closure of MRB cases to ensure a material “ready to build” state is achieved.Secondary to your primary role will be the following:Purchasing• Ensure that material items are procured on-time, using IFS and in accordance with available quotations to arrive in time for Manufacturing activities.Supply Chain Management• Manage all orders with supply chain, to ensure that parts are arriving in time for Shop Order planned start date.• Provide solutions to Supply Chain issues and queries as appropriate.• Effectively communicate to the planning team, when orders are not able to arrive in time – so that Shop Order and Customer Orders dates can be managed as appropriate• Ensure that Part Obsolescence is effectively communicated from Supply Chain to the Customer base.Continuous Improvement• Review own and business performance and identify where possible opportunities for continuous improvement.Our client is looking for someone who has;• Experience within engineering, manufacturing or quality with an understanding of technical drawings and processes OR• Experience within procurement and an interest in technical components.• Ambition and motivation to learn and develop• Ability to build positive working relationships• Inquisitive to understand processes and make suggestions to improve• Committed to working towards a common goal as part of a team• Excellent IT Skills; the ability to manipulate data using MS Excel and can develop a good working knowledge of the Enterprise Resource Planner (ERP), IFS• Strong organisational and planning skills• Committed to achieving high levels of quality On top of an annual salary of £28k - £38k, the available package also includes a generous number of perks, including flexible working, a discretionary quarterly bonus scheme, life insurance, a pensions scheme with generous employer contributions, an Employee Assistance Programme focused on employee wellbeing and staff discounts to name a few.This opportunity within a supportive and innovative environment is not to be missed.
