Elevations Design & Projects team are working with a market leading manufacturing business looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer (on a 3-6 month contract basis) to join a dynamic design team, focused on delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions. This role covers the full design lifecycle, from initial concept and development through to manufacturing and commissioning, requiring a hands-on approach and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams. (3-6 month Contract) Design Engineer Key Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD tools (Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent). Produce detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and supporting documentation to industry standards. Work closely with electrical, software, and production teams to ensure cohesive and practical design solutions. Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and FMEA activities. Provide technical support during machine build, commissioning, and testing phases. Review and improve existing designs based on operational feedback and cost efficiency. Communicate with suppliers regarding manufactured parts and material specifications. Ensure design data is managed and maintained using a document control system (e.g. Vault). (3-6 month Contract) Design Engineer, desirable Skills & Experience Degree, HND, or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design, desirable Proficient in 3D CAD software (Solidworks is essential)  Experience in machinery design & development and or automated processes/machinery is highly desirable Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings to BS/ISO standards.
