Senior Data Scientist
Our client is a global not-for-profit Organization known for the Humanitarian work they do across the world. They are looking for a number Senior Data Scientists to join their team on a permanent basis, based remotely with occasional trips to Central London required. This is a global humanitarian charity who, for over a century, has been helping vulnerable people across the world when disaster strikes, ensuring they get the support they need. This job would suit an experienced data scientist to be responsible for leveraging data-driven insights and developing tools to help address complex humanitarian challenges. The successful individual will be an experienced data scientist with experience of full data pipeline, from cleaning and wrangling to visualisation and modelling. They will have advanced skills in R, and knowledge of the 'tidyverse' and 'shiny' R packages. GIS analysis skills and basic Python skills and competence of git and GitHub is essential. UX/user interface design is also required for this role. Knowledge of SQL is preferred, but not essential. Proven history and experience in producing open-source analyses/software. Knowledge of UK geographies (administrative, statistical, health, etc.) is required. Duties will include: Lead the design, development, and dissemination of flagship insight products, including R Shiny web apps and R packages.Conduct modelling, analytics and visualisation of complex datasets.Communicate findings in engaging ways that inspire action, such as slide decks, reports, and interactive apps.Manage the data science community of practice.Set and oversee standards and best practices for data scienceProvide advice and guidance to junior analysts.Line management of other data scientists/analystsRecruit, line manage and mentor data science interns and volunteers.Pioneer innovative analyses, such as machine learning and AI techniques, to advance how the data is used for making decisions and solving problems.Conduct and analyse requirements-gathering, including user research, to ensure products meet colleagues' insight needs.Building or contributing to community of practice/peer support networkWorking with stakeholders to determine insight gaps and propose solutions to addressing those gapsAnalyse the outputs of insight products and curate findings with clear applications/considerations for stakeholders across the organisation.
