Finance Manager
Alexander Daniels are recruiting for a Management Accountant/Finance Manager to join a well-established and growing organisation in Cannock. The business operates across UK and international markets and has demonstrated strong performance and continued growth despite. This role is perfect for a Management Accountant/Assistant Accountant who is looking for that step up. This role reports directly to the Head of Finance / Finance Director and plays a key part in delivering accurate financial information to support commercial decision-making, cost control, and strategic planning. The Role As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the integrity of financial reporting, cost management, and budgeting and forecasting processes. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate margin analysis by product and customer, while overseeing day-to-day accounting operations. Key Responsibilities Financial Operations & Processing Prepare and post journal entriesOversee daily and weekly processing of sales, purchases, cash, and journalsSupervise an Assistant AccountantReview and ensure accuracy of cost classificationReview and challenge standard costs and update where appropriateProcess payments and oversee outsourced payrollPrepare VAT returns and ensure HMRC submissions are accurate and timely Control & Compliance Maintain the general ledger and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliationsPerform monthly inventory reconciliations and landed cost analysisMonitor committed costs linked to purchase ordersSupport periodic stocktakesEnsure finance systems are stable, compliant, and fit for purpose Reporting, Budgeting & Forecasting Assist with preparation of monthly management accountsConduct variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periodsProduce margin reporting by product and customerPrepare weekly order intake and monthly sales order book reportingSupport board pack preparationAssist with P&L budgeting, cashflow forecasting, and currency planningSupport treasury activity and liaison with finance providers Key Relationships Reporting directly to the Head of Finance / Finance DirectorLine management responsibility for an Assistant AccountantActive participation in the senior leadership team, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders Skills & Experience Required Part-qualified professional accounting qualification (minimum)At least 3 years' experience in general or cost accountingStrong double-entry accounting knowledgeManufacturing or operational finance experience advantageousExperience with Sage Line 50 preferredAdvanced Excel and data analysis skillsExperience preparing monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow reporting Benefits Salary progression aligned with company growthParticipation in an employee ownership/shareholder scheme after qualifying period25 days annual leave
