The Role: Customs Clearance Clerk (Felixstowe/ Hybrid) As a Customs Clearance Clerk, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient clearance of goods through customs procedures. Job Responsibilities Preparation of Customs documentation to ensure that any shipments imported meet all applicable laws so that entry can occur. Issuing the correct documents on behalf of the customer to ensure that customs are cleared in a timely and efficient manner allowing shipments to continue their journey. You will receive experience of working within a customs team environment with a basic understanding of the law and regulations surrounding Customs Clearance and Port Health requirements/ IPAFFS. The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines whilst working effectively under their own initiative with a flexible adaptable approach. Computer literate with a use of various systems including Microsoft excel, Outlook and Teams. Provide exceptional customer service to clients. Stay updated on customs regulations and industry trends. Proactive Personnel are currently recruiting for a Customs Compliance Assistant for a successful growing transport and logistics company at their site in Trafford Park. This is a new position due to growth and the ideal candidate will have experience working in a similar position. Purpose of the role: To meet customers’ requirements for the safe and efficient transport of their cargo effectively and in accordance with company operational procedures and statutory requirements including Health & Safety to the satisfaction of clients and a return for the company. Responsibilities: - Trade goods between GB & NI through Trader Support Service (TSS). - Generate & submit Entry Summary Declarations (ENS) safety and security declarations to TSS. - Create GMRs to receive authorization to move goods. - Handle supplemental declarations when we are the importer. - Trade goods between GB & ROI by verifying invoices and spreadsheets before submitting to Dublin colleagues if not arranged locally - Assist with verification of customs declaration information and the submission of such to the customs authority. - Ensure all HMRC documents are prepared correctly and that the depots receive clear instruction on cargo - Handle HMRC systems to check clearance status of shipments. - Maintain regular communication with sales team and traffic team to get missing information on consignment page and invoice - Double-checking the data on each invoice, customer contact as and when required - General Customer Advice and help during the process and for onboarding new clients - Release goods and keep clients updated on the consignment status. - Creating the spreadsheet with raw data from invoice when client is unable to produce one. - Communicate effectively in a professional manner with customers to ensure their requirements are fulfilled in line with their booked instructions. - Communicate with all stakeholders in the delivery process. - Ensure legislative compliance in all areas. - Prepare correct/collate documentation to the Customs & Compliance department for Export ensuring all requirements are met. - Perform and correctly implement General Administration, e.g. invoicing, filing, queries in accordance with the companies’ requirements. - Communicate efficiently and effectively (via use of IT systems, email, telephone, social media) with internal and external customers, suppliers and other offices as required by operational procedures.
