You be will be responsible for following duties: Manage client accounts and ensure invoices and bills are paid in line with agreed termsProactively chase overdue fees and disbursements via phone, email, and formal correspondenceWork closely with fee earners and partners to resolve billing queries and agree collection strategiesHandle sensitive client conversations with professionalism and discretionMonitor aged debt and highlight high-risk matters or clientsEnsure compliance with Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) rules and firm policiesAllocate client payments accurately and reconcile accountsAssist with client onboarding, including credit checks and setting credit limitsPrepare aged debtor reports and cash flow forecasts for partners and managementEscalate unpaid debts where appropriate, including pre-legal or external recovery action Profile: The successful temporary Credit Control Clerk will have have 2+ years experience . The Financial Controller will be number one in Finance overseeing a team of three, and will report into the Managing Director. Reporting into the FD, the Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in implementing robust financial controls, and improving the overall financial management and reporting infrastructure. Client Details We are exclusively recruiting for a Financial Controller to join our client, a niche business based in West Kent on a full time and permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting background and demonstrable involvement in business strategy and commercial thinking, within a SME. As Financial Controller, you will drive financial control, enhance reporting processes, and streamline day-to-day operations to better support the business' growth trajectory. Description Financial Controller duties include; Produce the monthly finance report within 4 working days of month end, including P&L, balance sheet and cashflow.Oversee the preparation and review of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.Submit pension contribution and HMRC files, ensuring compliant.Consult with the management team to produce the annual budget, including profit and loss, balance sheets and cashflow projections, based on business plan targets.Review and challenge (re-tender) our overhead costs on a rolling basis.Liaise with the company accountants/auditors to produce the annual accounts, corporation tax returns, and confirmation statements.Be a member of the management team. Attend and contribute to weekly catchups and monthly board meetings.Line manage the accounts-payable clerk and the two engineering project controllers.Undertake commercial reviews of the contracts received from suppliers. Identify adverse terms and risks and negotiate commercial terms.Monitor cash flow and develop strategies to optimise financial performance.
