Contracts Manager – Rail Maintenance Location: Essex (Office-based)Salary: £45,000–£55,000 + Company VehicleEmployment: Full-time | PermanentHybrid/Remote: Full time office role, 830am to 530pm I am working with a specialist contractor in the rail sector who deliver height-safety solutions across a variety of rail maintenance and infrastructure projects. Due to sustained growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee site delivery, compliance, and operational performance across a growing project portfolio. The company installs and maintains a wide range of height-safety systems on rail sites, including: Mansafe / fall-protection systemsCat ladders and fixed access solutionsEyebolts, anchors, and gantriesInspection, testing, and certification services This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, technically strong leader to play a key role in strengthening and developing their operational function. The Role As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of all installation and inspection works. Key responsibilities include: Managing and coordinating installation and inspection projectsProducing, reviewing, and approving RAMSEnsuring compliance with the Work at Height Regulations 2005Overseeing installationsManaging engineers, subcontractors, and site labourControlling permits-to-work and site documentationLeading accident investigations and completing RIDDOR reportingActing as the main point of contact for audits and site inspections What We’re Looking For: Height Safety Experience - Essential!NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Managing SafelyPractical experience on construction or rail projects involving work at heightTechnical knowledge of Mansafe, lifeline, and fall-arrest systemsUnderstanding of BS 7883 inspection requirementsSSSTS or SMSTSStrong working knowledge of RAMS, Work at Height Regulations, and fall-protection principlesBackground in FM, industrial, or infrastructure sitesFull UK driving licence
